Trespass Prevention Virtual Conference

SeSys are excited to have been invited by Network Rail to present the work we have done with our trespass mitigation smart camera technology at Hanwell Station. The annual event, which will be held online this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, is organised by the Rail Safety & Standards Board (RSSB) and aimed at decision makers within an organisation with a specific interest in Trespass.

The second rail industry Trespass Prevention Conference and Trade Fair will be a virtual conference held on 16 March 2021.

Trespass has been an increasing problem and has risen substantially over the last five years. In 2018/19 there were:

  • over 13,500 reported incidents of trespass
  • 23 deaths attributed to trespass
  • over 160k trains were affected, averaging 440 trains per day

Trespass affects the whole of the rail industry with an adverse impact on safety, performance, reputation, costs and efficiency. It affects all parts of the business and is therefore something that we must tackle together. A Trespass Improvement Programme was instigated in January 2018 and the increase in trespass seen over the past five years has slowed. This is to be welcomed given the long hot summer, mild winter and the world cup however, there is much more that we can and must do.

The Trespass Prevention Conference aims to share with industry partners the key activities the Programme is undertaking. This includes the new exciting partnership with the English Football League Trust and the next stages of the You vs Train campaign.

Breakout sessions will aim to identify what else is needed, what individual organisations can do to help prevent trespass and how we can work much closer together on this issue.

Ideally delegates will be decision makers from your organisation with a specific interest in the area.
